Newark Town Hall Wedding Photography
Newark Town Hall Wedding Photography
One of the absolute highlights of my last year was photographing Andrew and Rachel’s beautiful wedding at the magnificent Newark Town Hall. Photographs during the morning prep wasn’t something that Andrew & Rachel were interested in, so my day started at the hall, capturing the scene before guests arrived. What a magnificent ball room!
The Morning of The Wedding
Andrew & Rachel asked me to meet them at their house which was a short walk away from the town square, passing the iconic coloured doorways that decorate the townhouses. Newark is such a colourful and artistic town. The guests were arriving so I was able to capture the smiles, hugs and anticipation of the celebration ahead.
The Wedding Ceremony
Just look at this ballroom for the wedding ceremony, doesn’t it look absolutely stunning, full of excited guests.
During the ceremony, the light changed abruptly - the low sun flooding in through the enormous windows and all the light fell on Rachel! This type of light can be challenging because all of a sudden, out of nowhere, you can’t see the bride because she’s just too bight! I managed to rectify that by under-exposing the whole scene so that i could see Rachel, as if she were in the spotlight. It really worked! As a wedding photographer, you really do need to adapt at a moments notice.
The sun decide to calm down a little so the light was a little less challenging and more balanced for the rest of the ceremony and for the all-important bide and groom exit which I’m always ready for. On this particular exit, there were hugs and kisses on the way, which were not to be missed! Such a feeling of joy and celebration!
I absolutely love the first kiss photograph; the newlyweds turing to face their guests and I was able to take a step backwards to capture the whole first kiss scene.
Candid wedding photographs
After the ceremony, I love to take a step back and be a fly-on-the-wall to capture all the natural hugs, kisses and celebrations - that’s what I’m there for - the photograph those moments of emotion.
The bride and groom wanted to set a little time aside for some photographs of juts the two of them so we used the opulent Newark Town Hall, the famous Chain Lane and the impressive Newark Castle grounds.
The Evening Wedding Reception at Newark Town Hall
While we took s stroll for some bride and groom photographs, the amazing team at the town hall transformed the ballroom into a dining room for the wedding breakfast and after a stunning meal, the evening celebrations began, with an exciting and energetic first dance (what a ballroom to photograph dancing!) and then plenty of dance floor moves!
A truly memorable and outstanding wedding day, memories made and captured with fun. Thank you so much for having me Andrew and Rachel!
